Anandi Geroy

Anandi has always loved the arts. As the daughter of a children’s librarian she participated in and
assisted with many children’s literacy programs and put on countless library puppet shows. She
graduated from Taos High School and went on to get an undergraduate degree in Theater from
Northwestern University in Chicago where she also majored in Russian Language and Literature. Anandi
has travelled widely and enjoys incorporating the study of local and world history, sociology and the
study of diverse cultures, traditional crafts and a love for nature into her performing arts curriculum.
She studied Odissi, a form of Indian classical dance, for 14 years and lived in India for 7 years where she
studied, performed and taught dance and percussion. While living in the San Francisco Bay Area she
directed over 30 children’s musical theater productions and worked as a theater teaching artist in the
public schools. Back in Taos she lives on a farm where she milks dairy cows and cares for chickens, dogs
and an organic vegetable garden along with her long-time partner. She is excited to be teaching at TISA
where she can incorporate her love for music, dance, visual arts and storytelling as well as her love for
homesteading and folk arts into an integrated curriculum with a focus on multiculturalism and local and
international traditional arts and culture.
