Enrollment

Taos Integrated School of the Arts is a free public state charter school, and admission is by open lottery. If you are interested in enrolling your child at TISA, you can please call Nicole at 575-758-7755 to request an application, or download an application in English (see below).

Lottery Application Process

Open lottery starts on Monday, March 9th. TISA will accept lottery applications for grades K-8. All incoming applications will be placed on a list based on the applying grade. The lottery is done randomly on the computer and will take place on Monday, April 27th. Enrolled students with applying siblings will occupy vacant spots first, based on the sibling policy. Should more vacant spots become available, students will be called according to order based on the randomly generated list.

Please note: The lottery application and waiting list are only good for the current school year. The open lottery takes place every year in March and closes in April. TISA will advertise through The Taos News, local radio stations, & the TISA website.

RE:               School Days for 2015-16

The Governing Council of TISA would like to officially inform families of the change in days for this next school year.  After reviewing and analyzing student data over the past few years, it became obvious that TISA has some issues that needed to be addressed.  Some of these issues – such as our school grade, growth of lowest performing students and school growth overall – needed to have solutions applied for the charter renewal.  TISA’s school report card grade has averaged a “C” for the past three years.

One of the solutions to our student success rates is to change our school days from Tuesday-Friday to Monday-Thursday.  This change will align TISA with other state charters.  It is the belief of the staff and governing council that these will be more productive learning days because of the prevalent attitude that Friday is a “down” day in many organizations.

The director, in conjunction with our business manager, is working on the calendar for next year and will try to give some Monday holidays, such as Labor Day.  Monday Enrichment will move to Friday Enrichment to assist working parents.  It is critical that TISA remain high performing to protect and continue our charter.
